mexican Bush Sagetrim now?

Houston, TX(Zone 8b)

I failed to trim the Mexican Bush Sage this summer, and it's almost 4 ft. tall! Would it prevent the late summer/fall blooms if I were to cut it back, now? I'm afraid to try -- I'll put up with the height if it means I'll have blooms. It may reach 6 feet, but I just love those purple fuzzy flowers. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I think it is a little late to trim now.

I would wait to prune till after the fall blooms. Would love to see a photo of your tall blooming sage.

Definitely share a photo.

I have several things that really got away from me early summer, when they put on a rain-fueled growth spurt. So they're all weird and leggy and giant now, but yeah, too late to fix it or I'll lose the fall rain-fueled flower burst. (Which should start any day now, right? Right?)

Any day now, the nites are starting to hit cooler temps, thank heavens!

gotcha. Thanks for your opinions. I had a feeling it was to late. I'll share a photo when it blooms. Gosh-- bring on those cool fall rains!!!
