Cover crops

Has anyone used red clover as a cover crop? Did you till it under and if so when?

For best nitrogen yield, turn your green manure under before flowering. Otherwise the plant uses the fixed N for bloom & seed set.

I don't recall the exact timing of sowing after clover, in general it's 2-4 weeks after tilling, so the seed doesn't get caught in the material break down process.

(Fedco has a good reference book on cover crops for cheap. Lots of good info.)
