I plants 2 sloe plums 5 years ago because I heard from several old timers that it was the only fruit that could compete with Mayhaw for making jelly. The trees are full of thumb nail sized plums.
However, they have been green for quite a while now, some darken without softening at all, and some now appear to have almost gone bad. A few are purple and on the ground, but most of them (on the ground) are ruined.
Does anyone have experience with this plum? Do they ripen after picking? They are not good for straight eating - but like I said, are suppose to be very good for jelly.
Sloe Plum Question (Prunus umbellata) - ripe?
That where sloe gin comes from???
