Wanted: Clerodendrum Ugandense

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

This is the fabulous plant I saw at stormys house. Does anyone have just a small cutting, a seed, anything? I honestly believe if I have this one last plant, I can stop. Okay, I know, but it's worth a shot:)

Hello again I have this plant, I looked for it for a year before I found it about 2 months ago. I can send you a cutting. Do you know how to propogate it?

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

tiG=trust in God! I have it..email me! It is in the plant data base: http://davesgarden.com/plants/go/1874.html I just love this shrub! I would love to share it with you!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

lisa, you have mail, shannan, I thank you and when lisa tells us how to share, you will have a beauty to share. This is absolutely the most beautiful flower, wasn't God wonderful when He thought these up???

Yes please do tell Lisa I would love to know. And yes tiG God has a way of making things really neat. I just found out why the love in the puff vine has its name. I just love those seeds.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

tiG and sprouts, I have wonderful connections on hard to find plants...my husband is a landscaper and I get to go shopping at all the neat wholesale places to pick up orders. Of course, I always come home with one for the customer and 2 for me..heh heh..tig, no cutting here..you will be getting a plant. Lisa

hugs to both of you!

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

sprouts, being that it is a "woody" stem plant,I would think you could most likely propagate it with a little bit of root tone, it should take easy...

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

If anyone has extras, I would love one. Tell me what you are looking for....Brenda

Thanks Lisa I will give it a try.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I have one of these gorgeous plants I would love to propagate too. If you have luck, you must share your technique!
I might add, that it's a real trouper. Thought I had lost it in last Xmas ice storm but it came back bigger than ever...YAY!

I rooted mine from a small 5-6 inch cutting that I received in a trade about 2 yrs. ago..I rooted it in Jiffy seed starting soil, just kept it damp and in a few weeks, it was rooted..It now lives in a 5 gallon pot and blooms beautifully , even after I bring it inside for the winter.

Larkie,
What time of year did you strike the cutting. Mine's blooming right now, will it be too late after it flowers?

I have mine growing in a high shade flowerbed but I may want to do cuttings so I can enjoy it inside too.

Just had to tell you that your post made me go look at my cuttings. The are about 4 inches tall and are tip cuttings. They have rooted in 18 days and have buds developing on the tops. I sat my little 4x4" pot on top of the wood frame my grow light is attached to and it is warm there. Wasn't expecting to see roots so quickly, but they are about 3/4" long. Thanks for reminding me about those little babies.

M.V. ROse, I have heard of the plant you've mentioned. I also call it "Cashmere Boquet" (sp?) I have not seen any around here though :(

Camilla, GA(Zone 8a)

Cashmere Bouquet, is the Clerodendrum Bungei, they are different plants, the Ugandense is the Butterfly Clerodendrum..

Hey Tig

that is a beautiful flower. I have never seen that one before. If anyone has a small extra cutting they can share for SASE I would truly appreciate it.

Also, While searching out this plant, I came across the following. Might find it interesting if you are trying to propagate it:
