Water Lily

New Bern, NC(Zone 8a)

I didn't see a "Blooming in August" sticky (does a moderator post these, or can members?) but I wanted to share this photo of a hardy water lily in our pond. Our granddaughter was visiting and took this photo with our new camera. She is studying photography in college, and works for a professional photographer. I love these translucent, iridiscent blooms which draw the eye to our little pond near the front walk. Entlie

Just beautiful, you r granddaughter is an excellent photogapher. I love the white lilies, is that one, by any chance, a night bloomer?

Not a night bloomer - wish it was, though.

Just beautiful Entlie!

I think it's gorgeous, too. I also like that it's a day bloomer - more waking hours to enjoy it.

Beautiful ginger (and hibiscus). My ginger is in almost full sun, and still waits until very late summer to bloom.

I love the ginger, deanna. Is it fragrant? The hibiscus is also beautiful. Does the hibiscus ever have branches revert to their non variegated form?

the ginger is not fragrant...but it's beauty makes up for it :)~ Donna- not yet on the varigation - although I do notice in the winter and too much shade it's not 'as varigated' ...I have moved it to the back porch and it's loving it thus far! we'll see what the winter brings since I've yet to find anyone to more my 10 x 12 greenhouse down from Newberry :(
