My Pebbles is sick.

Mantua, UT(Zone 4b)

My little three pound Yorkie is doing very poorly. I have written about her before, but it has been a long time.

She has liver shunt. It must be microvascular dylplasia. She also has Lupus and central blindness in her right eye. She now has spondylosis, a condition in her spine that causes difficulty walking.
She doesn't seem to be in pain, but that may be hard to tell.

My family thinks I should have put her to sleep a long time ago, but she goes in waves of being quite good, and then sinks to the depths occasionally. If I ride it out she gets better.

I'm not sure that will happen this time. She has a hard time even standing up now. I have seen her drag her back legs more lately. She is still eating really well, but she doesn't want me to hold her as much as she used to.

She can't stand very well to go potty, so she sometimes sits in it and has trouble getting up. I know that sounds awful. I am constantly giving her a partial bath.

She looks good on paper. I just got a blood test for $150.00 and the only things out of whack were the Sodium and Platelets. Liver panel was normal. We have not done another bile acid test yet.

I love her. She loves me. I keep hoping for a rebound like she's has before.

When and how do you make a decision about the life of your best friend?
