This is a picture of one of our bowtie silkies (the roo) and one of the hens. We also have a bowtie hen.

Here is our gray girl. She has so much poof on her head we have to trim it at her eyes so she can see.

What are bowtie silkies?

Conroe, TX

They have naked necks and a poof of feathers in the front of the neck sort of like a bowtie would be.

This is the female bowtie silkie. This is when she was younger. See how the neck is naked and then there is a poof in the front. That is why they are called bowtie silkies.

This is a more recent picture of her.

They are so cute!

I think the hen is pretty even with a naked neck. When she was a baby we put a little barbie gold necklace around her neck and took a picture. She looked so cute.

Is that large one in your first picture a Buff colored Silkie? I wanted Buff colored ones, but none of the eggs hatched. We had 12 eggs and only 5 hatched, 4 white and one gray.

This is the mother she has a black head and the rest of her is buff colored. They are just pet quality not like yours

I had forgotten how fast the babies grow and get feathers, they're so cute!

The Naked Neck breeds would make me nuts, I'd want to put medicine on it and wrap them up!

They're all so adorable. It's so easy to get lost of hours watching all the funny things they do.

Conroe, TX

Oh she is pretty Green, it's like she is wearing a hat.

Annie you get used to the nakedness of the necks and it looks normal.....for them....after a while. They really looked funny when they hatched. The poor things were so ugly that they were cute.

Here she is when she was about 2 months old. The white babies I got form ebay so they are a better quality than what I have,I hope to keep getting better quality of silkies through ebay and others, there is no place around here to buy silkies so have to do it through the mail.I really like the puffy ones.

That is too cool, it's her go out and party hat. Or maybe she didn't like Buff hair and got herself a wig. What a beauty.

showmesilkies has really good quality Silkies and takes great care in shipping them.

What do you call those round fur hats the Russians wear? That's what she has on.

Conroe, TX

Ushanka, that's what they are called. And you're right, it does look like that.

they are just darling. Mine have grown up and I really love them. Keiths comb is just massive and poor Billy is just as scruffy looking as ever lol. Age hasn't improved him at all

Mother does not get to far away form them.I now have six blue and buff silkie eggs comming from ebay,I have a brody and have tried to break her but to no avail,so she might just as well be setting on eggs.May have to sell some of the bigger ones to make room for all this comming winter when they sometimes have to stay in the coop for days at a time.It would be just too crowded for them.
