Preventive Pest Control

Flower Mound, TX

Just started my new veggie garden for a Fall harvest. Planting pole beans, greens, chard, kale, and spinach primarily. Have read all about the "keep the garden clean, etc" preventive pest control measures, but I'm wondering if it's appropriate to use some of the soap or oil based sprays on my emerging seedlings (and once they mature) also.

In other words, should I be using any organic sprays or treatments to try and preempt any problems. If so, what is recommended? The one pest that some of my containers got hit with this past Spring was spider mites. And some of my container cabbages and other leafy stuff were ravaged by caterpillars. BT seemed to work against those.

So, I'm just trying to think ahead.

Thanks -

I spray Bt, copper/sulfur and sometimes organicide as preventatives.
