My local nursery is having a half price sale. I can get Lord Baltimore Hibiscus and other colors for $2.98 in 1 gallon pots. They are about 2 - 3 feet tall and more than ready to go in the ground. They have columbine plants for $1.99 each.
Guess where I'm going as soon as my check gets here?

I'm jealous Marti! Have fun!
LOL!!!
The guy across the street, the jerk, has been real nice to me lately. He is leaving the end of this month to move back to Florida. (Sorry about that Florida) Anyway that beautiful hibiscus that grows in his yard, a large white with reddish throat, had a baby growing near it and he said I could did it up. I have it in a pot on the back porch. Can hardly wait until it blooms and see if it is true to the parent or something else.
hehe, hope you get a real nice neighbor there next time Mary! I can't wait either to see what your baby grows up to look like, I know you've admired his plant for awhile. Why don't you try rooting a cutting? The hardies root very easy in water!
Well, now I have the baby I dug up yesterday and 25 seedlings I started from seeds from that plant. I think I have enough, plus I've collected more seeds from it.
Also the neighbor up the street gave me access to her fence row of hibs and I collected seeds there also. Some she said are red, also pink and some white. I did not see them in bloom so don't know the colors. But I'm going to have lots of hibs next year.
You sound like my kind of girl! Hardy hibs are my absolute favorite yard flower. I already have many, but plan to have a yard full of them next spring!
Karen, I'm growing hibiscus for my yard and for my nieces yard next door. She is just now getting her trailer moved on and will soon be ready to landscape the 1/2 acre. I'm getting some things potted up for her.
