Not sure what kind of butterfly this one is, but I will plant these zinnias again - the butterflies have been all over them!
Hey Rrrr...looks like a Gulf Fritillary to me. Do you or a neighbor have passion vines? That is a host plant for them, meaning they lay eggs and the cats feed on the plant.
I love your zinnias and the bfs too.
Funny, lots of moonflower vines here, but the passionflower seeds I planted in the spring did not come up.. The GFs must have originated on someone else's turf.
I'm in the Phoenix Area and it is too hot for zinnias right now. However, I have just bought a pack of 'Envy' and will definitely plant it early next spring so I can have beautiful butterflies like yours! I'm inspired!
