Worming and heat

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

is it safe to worm the chickens in this horrid heat? I noticed a worm in some poop today. I have some Wazine but also don't know how much to mix in a gal of water. If not for the heat now would be a good time to worm as they are really slacking off on egg production.

I also have Flubenvet which is 1/2 tsp per 4.4 lbs dry food. Does anyone know how to mix it in water?? Otherwise you feed it for 7 days mixed in the food

is it o.k. to worm the chickens in this heat??? or do I need to wait until I get a couple of cooler rainy days??

Also how much Wazine to a gal of water??

I really don't know...The only variable I can think of is that they would drink more water in hot weather, and if medication was in the water they might get more...but that aside, I can't think that it would matter. I've never heard of any warnings about heat and worming other animals.

I guess it might be considered an added pressure if you think it is hot enough for your chickens to be stressed.

it has been 116 heat index for the last few weeks. Really horrid. The air is so thick with humidity you can cut it with a knife

Yes it is like that here too. I would be inclined to wait for more livable conditions.

thank you all

Does anyone know how to mix the wazine??

I recently wormed mine in the heat.. if it's been consistently hot, I'd think it's not that much of an added stress.. If it were a sudden heat wave, then yeah, I'd wait. Otherwise, I'd think leaving them wormy when you've seen evidence can do more damage..

I mixed a few "glugs" in a 3 gallon waterer.. I didn't measure, just guessed.

ZZ our heat is different from yours. We have horrid humidity and it doesn't cool down much at night. You walk outside and your sinuses close up. My friend came to visit from Fl. I told her to bring the coolest clothes she had. I told her is was very hot. She laughed it off saying she was from Fl and knew about the heat. When she got here she just about died. She doesn't live near the Gulf or Atlantic. Boy was she surprised lol. It has been between 97 to 99 and the heat index say 116. Nights only go down to 85 although humidity is a little better then.

I think I will wait and watch as I am not positive I saw a worm

Thanks for the advise
