Got my Amorphophallus titanum today!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Got home from work and had an early Christmas present to myself waiting for me. Really nice tuber just coming out of dormancy. I am a happy pappy now! She's all settled into her new home.

Good luck with it. I remember how I felt when mine first arrived. It's been growing for about a year now and still looking good.

Definitely post more pics as she grows. :-)

Poughkeepsie, NY(Zone 6a)

Nice! Keep us up to date on it's growth, etc.!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Will do. Hope I have nothing but good to post about it! :)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Very nice. Will you grow it inside or outside?

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

It is being grown potted outside during the warm times and will be brought in during the winter sitting on a seedling warming mat. I'm fortunate (except for when I have to work outside in the heat) I live along the coast and have high humidity here. For when it gets larger I now have a real excuse for the greenhouse I want to put up. :)

Hope it does well for you.

UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley just had a small one in flower. It is now collapsing. They fertilized it but do not know if it has taken yet.

Yep, Jim. That would be the one. It's not called titanum (titan) for nothing! :)

Kell,
I've kept up with the Berkley blooms. Actually, my tuber came from UC- Berkley via the director of the botanical gardens. I haven't spoken with Paul about the pollination or the size of the Little Stinker tuber but it seems like a small one to pollinate. Maybe they're experimenting? A. titanum uses a lot of energy & nutrients from the tuber in producing the inflorescence then its fruit. And it can take months to reach ripening. I don't know the size of the tuber but if too small it could totally drain the tuber. Guess I need to give him a call to find out.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Paul is the one that did the pollination so he is the one to ask. http://botanicalgarden.berkeley.edu/root_images/whats_happening/Titan%20Arum%202010/Corpse_Flower.html

I am still kicking myself because when Amorphophallus Titan Malodora bloomed they had a couple big plants in the nursery shop for sale that stood about 4 or 5 feet. I was on an austerity day for once in my life and walked on bye. I immediately regretted it! Though I have killed several already and may have just killed my last 2. The humidity here is low and I am not sure they really can survive here outside of a GH. Berk. Bot is now saying they will live in a regular house and I am so hoping they are right and my 2 are just resting.

Here is Amorphophallus Titan Malodora on June 30th.

I do not know if they pollinated Malodora but if they did it did not take. As it looked the other day.

I don't think Maladora was pollinated but I'd bet 10 to 1 that its pollen was used on Little Stinker.

How long have your 2 been dormant? If it's been a while have you lifted them out to check on them?

Well a bit more gone than this but leaves still there.
