Does anyone have seeds, cuttings or plants you are willing to sell?
I had one of these that I grew from seed when I first started gardening.. It was beautiful for a while, but it turned out to be one of those "learn from your mistakes".. Now that I have a much better grip on what I'm doing, I would like to grow more.
Wanted: Black Eyed Susan Vine or Thunbergia alata
I have the seeds and maybe some very small plants. Let me know what you would like to trade. I dont have room for any houseplants so no tropicals unless you have some canna seeds,.?? Let me know if youre interested
Thanks Donna
Keep our hot weather in mind when mailing plants - they most likely will arrive as plant soup in our hot weather!
Mmmm did I mention I was watching this thread? Up here we have to start them in early summer and they die at the first frost, but Donna, may I keep you in mind for next year? I can't seem to get them to bloom!
Carrie, you aren't alone - I can't get most annual vines to bloom either and we grow 10 months out of the year down here.
Sure, I have plenty of seeds now if anyone wants to trade. I set my plants out late and they are just now setting blooms. I have had best luck with morning sun, evening shade and they continue to bloom until Oct/Nov when we get our hard freeze. I love these blooms, so dainty but yet so interesting as they form their seed pods.. Just let me know
Donna
Mine bloom like crazy ! And I have some I've put on the north west side on a pasture fence that get full blazing sun all day and rarely watered and they bloom, the one's in part shade bloom, and they come up from seed, I don't even bother sowing them just dig some and put where I want and mow down the rest or trade or sell.
I've got White Hyacinth Bean Vine blooming now too, and am on a second set of Japanese Morning Glories.
Now..,..if my Cup and Saucer would just bloom !
Martha, my white hyacinth bean is setting seeds, too, but my morning glories didn't bloom at all this year!
mj - your Thunbergia is beautiful!
locakelly, they are fun annual vines to grow...
Kay, I got my White Hyacinth started late, plus it's where it get's afternoon shade. I'm definitely going to grow it again next year, very cool !
My MG self-sow - in Z6!!! Luckily, they're in a wheelbarrow; I know some people consider them a weed.
Kay, I can do nasturtiums and sweet peas which like our (normally) cool weather. Just not BES vine! This year I bought BES vine plants and planted them in a tub where I had planted a bunch of leftover, expired nasturtium seeds which I didn't expect to grow. Guess who won. Not the BES vine. I have a bumper crop of mixed, assorted nasturtiums, all shapes, sizes and colors.
