Sampson just got back from his third vet in as many days and is finally resting comfortably. He has Calcium Oxalate crystals in his bladder. One vet recommended very strongly that I feed him only Purina U/R. The vet at the cat hospital says that is doesn't work on those crystals. She did say that I could be giving them too many foods high in calcium and that could cause the crystals. (I raw feed them chunks of meat including bones.) What does everyone know about these kinds of crystals and what has been successful in treating them?
Sampson IS NOT blocked - but very uncomfortable - so he is OK and now he has Clavamox, prednisilone and a pain med to keep him comfortable. All three of them together seem to be working as he just ate some tuna, which is a huge treat and he never gets otherwise and passed a couple of drops of urine. Hooray for the pee!
