Hey everyone, I just purchased a Passiflora trifasciata from a tropical nursery here in the Houston area. This is the first time I haves seen these and just had to have it. Of course, instead of doing my research before I bought it, I saw that it is hardy to zone 10b! Is this a fact or does it do okay in my zone as well (9a). Any advice from anyone who has knowledge on this variety, PLEASE tell me what ya know about it.
Thanks yall,
Brandon Sivek
Anyone have advice on trifasciata?
Brandon, I have one but I won't be chancing leaving it in the ground all winter. When It's ready to move up I'll probably put it in a 5 gallon pot. I set them out next too Oak Tree's and let them climb or give them an Arbor. When it's big enough I'll take some cuttings ( they root easily, I just did one as mine needed to be trimmed back to encourage branching). I'll try some in the ground then, but not till I'm sure I have healthy backups. Goth has one and she lives about 2 hours north of me maybe she'll chime in here or just ask her.

I grow all of mine in pots and have found that you can cut them back in the fall and winter them over. I also as mj does, take cuttings as insurance.
