Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Well, once again spring was so busy I didn't get my rat tails sown. Wondering if they'll grow asa fall crop like other radishes.????

What have you got to lose?

I keep forgetting to plant mine, too, so I think I'm going to give them a fall crop testing as well.

I think I'll try a small patch in a flowerbed. I love the flowers

When do you plant for fall?

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

'bout mid-Sept

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

What else will you plant then?

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Mustards, turnips, kale, radishes, carrots, lettuce, spinach, onions(if I can find sets)....maybe a few heads of cabbage.According to my schedule,I can sow all that now but we're in triple digit tempts so I think NOT...LOL

None of the local garden centers have their fall tomatoes in yet and not likely until Sept. so I've sown some seed in big buckets on my nursery hand truck so I can move them into the greenhouse around the end of Oct/first of Nov and get (hopefully) and extended harvest.

WOw! Sounds nice. In zone 6 I probably need to get started, but it's hard to think of fall when it'sa gazillion degrees outside. Grrr. I am so not happy abot the heat this year.

I wanted to do another round of kohlrabi, but I can find my seeds. I'm SURE I put them in a logical place, though WHY I didn't put them inthe seed box is beyond me...at least today!

I envy a second crop of tomatoes. What did you plant?

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Come on down to the south were tempts are ranging fron 101 to 105 this week....then we'll talk hot...LOL

All I had on hand were Kellogg's Breakfast and Burpee's Big Boy. Sown day before yesterday and the BBB are already up.

I wouldn't think the KB would have time to do it's thing??? The Big Boy seems like a good fall cropper. Wish I had another season to shoot for since my first one's suffering so. i may try a little late season gardening in my sunroom. I always do basil and parsley, a bit of lettuce, pak choi, and Tom Thumb Peas, but i think I'm also going to try some Cool Breeze Cukes (self-pollinizing? pollinating??), and Red Robin Tomato. (What do I have to lose?)

Sorry - you can't win this one - 99 degrees here with humidity in the danger zone. Ugh! (I left Florida because I HATE the heat and humidity! Wha's up with this in NY??? Ya think I put up with blizzards in the winter so I can be miserable in the summer too? Yikes!)

Do you have "winter" weather? My first thought would have been "no" until I read your post about extending the season. I also forgt that zones don't necessary reflect temperatures, but rather durations. I do remember driving through Flagstaff in my younger days and being stunned at te snow. It's truly an amazing country we live in. I bit of everything everywhere, I guess!
