question about repotting epi starts.

Fort Wayne, IN

This spring I bought alot of epi starts and they have all put out new leaves, at the time I put each start in there own 3 in. pot and I would like to now put them together in a larger one. Do I need wait until next spring and do I repot at the dirt level or can I plant a little deeper up the stems? I also have started seeds that are ready for transplant and any info on that would be greatly appreciated as I'm afraid to do anything because I might lose them. Thank You.

It should be OK to do it now. I have never babies my Epis and they always turn out fine. Just make sure that you don't put them in direct sun after you transplant them. You can repot them at dirt level or a little deeper, either way should be fine.

I'm not too sure about seeds, but I am sure someone will be along to help you.

In the same line as acts238: I planted my new starts two years ago in 4 inch pots. Most have filled out now . Should I move them up to gallon pots now or wait until they are crowded in the four inch pots? It seems that they would grow just as well in the gallon size pots that I feel they will end up in. Thanks for any help here!

I have found them to not be picky at all. I put 4 cuttings in a 10" pot last year, and now the container is so full it tips over. I also put 1 cutting in a 4" pot, and it has put off a few shoots, but nothing crazy. I can't say that yours will do the same. Mine grow to suit their containers.

Thanks for the confidence jlp222. I know cool weather will be up north soon and I would like to get them acclimated in a larger pot before it's to late.
