this little guy was sitting on a small leaf from my Callicarpa bush. It was no more than 1" across. It does have an odd shaped "back end" can anyone give me some direction on how to find the name of this little moth?
I really tried!
That is a Azure, mgarr.
Not sure who yours is Lily!

There goes, an Azure! Thanks Nan. Indeed I do need to take mine to the bugs forum I.D. lol.
Lily, yours looks like one of the Tiger Moths.
Oh thanks Josephine. ^_^
Thanks, I just couldn't get this one. :) Marietta
I check all the different Azure butterflies. Not it! Darn!!!!! I enlarged the picture. Azure only have this type of marking on the underside of their wings. This picture was was taken of the top that is usually blue or grey. Looking at it better his little back end is different and is probably a moth of some sort. Thanks for all your time and help. I'll keep looking.
Oh darn...agree with Lily post over on the bug ID forum...someone will know what it is!
mgarr: Your moth looks like Idaea dimidiata --Single-dotted Wave.
Lily: Your moth looks like Samea baccatalis -- Baccatalis Moth.

Well Idaea dimidiata certainly looks like mine with the little hairs over the body and the fuzzy edges and tiny black dots all along the edge. I wonder how he got to Pennsylvania. I haven't bought any plants from England in three years. It sure seems like a match. Thank you Mr. Clark.
It's also found in North America.
