It's official, raccoons are trouble.

Southern Mountains, GA(Zone 6b)

My small but prolific corn patch is finished for the season. The raccoons got 75% of the ears. They waited until they were really filled out and perfectly ripe.
The dousing with Liquid Fence and the coating with cayenne pepper didn't slow them down a bit. Very discouraging. All gone!

yes coons know when the corn is ready before you..I have seen many times when you plan on pulling corn the next day they move in over night and leave you nothing...

Bark River, MI

I feel your pain -- a couple of years ago I figured on getting about 100 ears of corn and ended up with 6! The coons harvested them just a couple of days before they were "ready", in my mind, at least! If that happens again this year I'm done with corn -- it takes up too much room and is so readily available this time of year, I'll just buy enough to freeze some for later!
