Philo goeldii

Gainesville, FL

Almost perfectly symmetrical! I love it when plants have this sort of magical architectural symmetry

THAT is a Philodendron? It is beautiful!

Very cool!

One of my P. goeldii plants is going into a blooming cycle so you know what I'm going to do next! I do need to try to self the plant, though, because I've had folks wanting a P. goeldii and haven't had any available.

Oh I thought you were going to say you were going to cross it to another kind. I bet baby ones are so cute.

Already did that - more than once! Some of the progeny are beyond words - and spectacular.

LariAnn, I would love to see pictures of the babies!

Me too!!!!!

Patience pays - I'll try to post some pics tomorrow. These "babies" are from 4 to 6 feet tall already, and some have already bloomed. I did goeldii with mello-barretoanum, several types of bipinnatifidum, and a dwarf philo I have that I call "dwarf speciosum". Only the latter cross are still truly babies, as I did it last year. A few have red or pink main veins visible on the underside of the unusually divided leaves.

That is amazing. I had no idea people were crossing philos like this. Do you sell them or have a nursery?

Miami, FL(Zone 10a)

I've been hybridizing Philos since the early 1980s. Not too many people are doing it. I have a research nursery so most of what I have is not for sale. Occasionally I do sell some plants when I end up with extras or plants that I don't need for further research.

I got too busy to take pictures today but will see what I can do tomorrow.

Thanks, LariAnn. I'm really interested in this. I bought a Brian Williams from Brian Williams. ;-)
