CLOSED: Still have:Daylily "Secured Borders"

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Beautiful variegated mini daylily, Still trying to find a suitable trade for it. It's too hot here by the time it really has a chance to start growing so I have yet to see the variegation. I've had it about 3 yrs now so while it's not huge it is a pretty good size and I can send picture of actual plant.

including link of PDN pix and description

Will trade for another daylily of equal value or unique perennial.

That is a unique look! Good luck on the trade. I didn't even know there was a daylily with varigated foliage.

LOL. I'm still learning. So MUCH to learn. My small town planted what I thought was spider plants all over downtown and all this spring I was fussing to myself about the waste of taxpayers dollars to plant annuals... THEN, I was strolling through a nursery and saw the varigated monkey grass... DUH. That is what they had planted!

So now I'm more "educated" in spider plants, monkey grass, and daylilies. Varigated no less.

LOL...yes but it's fun learning. I've been gardening 20 yrs plus and still learning. There's more than one variegated daylily but if you asked me to name them,I'd have to lie to you*G*

I have some Stellas and there is some variegated foliage coming up with them I'm getting ready to divide them so I'm going to check that variegation out and see if it's seperate from the rest I thought that was pretty strange and the white on it is very white!

I'll take a shot here Peggy lol Do you have any luck with the penstemons? I have a couple of small seedlings in 3" pots still the blooms are like a pink & electric blue around the edges of it wish I had a camera I love this little plant! The plants are about four inches high ready to be put in the ground the ones I have in the ground are blooming their little heads off and this is there first year not much bigger than the plants that I have in the pots still :)

I'm getting ready to move and divide a couple of daylilies that are my favs after I get a couple of cool days it's been so darn hot here for digging plus they just got done blooming waiting on some babies on the stems to plant but that is no big deal the AAT already has a bunch on the stems:

If you don't have this one you need it lol This thang is georgous and tall!

I have a few of the salvia patens also 'Blue Angel' that need to get in the ground they do reseed for me here but they would be a darn perennial for you lucky you! You may have this one already too you have so many plants!

LeBug,
I've lost count on how many penstemons I have but only Gulf Coast and Sour Grapes bloomed for me this year. Sour Grapes and Electric Blue put on massive amounts of foilage just didn't bloom.Red pestemon bloomed well for me in nursery pots. I was hoping they'd set lots of seeds but none did. Try as I might I didn't get much of the plants I wanted to,planted out. I concentrated on 3 rooms in the west corner of the yard this year that had been neglected for to long and planted out fruit/berry and flower shrubs out there this year. It's rained some much here that you can't tell,I've weeded that area about 3 times.

American Tiger is gorgeous. Are you offering that one as trade or just teasing me?*G* If so,let me check to see if I can divide Secured Borders between you and Dees,'cause I realy would like that black elderberry to go with the gold leaf one I have....if that's ok with the 2 of you.

Newfield, NY

i would love to trade for some daylily

It's fine with me if it's ok with LeBug.Peggy, is your gold leaf elderberry big enough that you could slip me a little bitty cutting? I will look at your list and see if I have anything else on your list. I have been wanting a gold one to go with my black ones..lol

No I'm just teasing you! lol

That's great :) Yes it is a beautiful daylily got that from mamajack a few years ago never have divided it :) I don't like dividing daylilies lol I've got all kinds that really need it but just always just planting other plants, sure that's fine with me just let me know how many fans you want of it :) I can throw some fans in of the other one too if you don't have that one it's gorgeous too.

I know some people can't grow the penstemons I love those plants and seem to have better luck with them maybe they like my clay soil lol It's taking forever to get it in shape here! I have never collected seeds off of my penstemons that's one plant I just can't seem to get the seeds from for some reason I think the darn bugs get them first it's so frustrating for me!

I've done about the same thing in one of my side yards this year weeded and weeded and before I can get plants in the crab grass just keeps coming back these darn beds are so big can't afford that cottin pickin mulch to put on them it would be soo much easier. I have about eight shrubs to get into the ground yet too!

I can dig them and send Monday if that's alright with you just let me know on the other one and how many fans you want of the AT, I say mail out Monday because it's in the high 90's this week and very very humid out there it may take me a few days I'm not as young as I used to be LOL This heat is reminding me of that this year!

I've got that black lace planted with a tiger eyes sumac and they are gorgeous together but they have been together for a few years now and just the tiger eyes is starting to multiply now I figured the both of them would take over that spot or I was hoping anyway...well the crab grass is around the bottom of them so can't really tell if the black lace has multiplied this year but I can see the tiger eyes standing out in the field lol

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Peggy, I don't have another durn thing thats on your wish list...oh well. I'll mail on Monday also.
Lebug, I bet the tiger's eye and the black lace are pretty together.I'm dealing with the heat and the crabgrass too...Hate that stuff.

Next year Dee I plan on spending a fortune on crab grass killer in the spring and not buying plants with the money I spend on plants I could have gotten rid of it a long time ago or have a good start on it by now LOL Then it will be war on the wild violets! Half of my grass in the back yard is wild violets and I have an acre yard almost in the back the seeds just fly to my beds that I have them dug out of, a never ending fight until I get rid of them just haven't figured how to deal with those yet other than digging them out and that's a lot of digging! lol One huge patch of my grass out back is solid purple from all the violets back there pretty but not that pretty lol

I have this vision of the tiger eyes and black lace in a huge area I just hope it happens before I'm gone at this rate I'll never see it lol I think I planted them in 07' so this is about the time they should start multiplying I hope.

My gold elderberry is 8-10 ft tall. It's pictured on my trade page.Picture is from late spring before it got hot then it will revert back to a more green color but still not dark as native var. I did some heavy pruning on it earlier because it was shading out my agastache and pineapple sage but I still need to wittle on it a bit more because it's still vasting to much shade.

The Secured Borders has enough for 5-6 fans for each of you. Just keep in mind, this is a mini of only 12 inches tall so fans are tiny.

I have Tiger Eye sumac in a pot because getting some size on it before I plant it out...maybe this fall. Don't want to plant it out too soon then loose it during winter.

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Your golden elderberry is beautiful...and huge..lol Thanks!
5 or 6 fans of the variegated daylily is a good start, right? I'm happy with that.I'll mail the black lace on Monday... priority mail, with delivery confirmation.

I planted two tiger eyes at least if not three in the ground before getting the fourth to make it I'm just glad I got them at the nursery so it was replaced each year lol Every winter anymore it seems like something weird happens and kills a few of my plants!

Got one of those variegated hollies and kept it in a pot over winter trying to baby it and found out too late I was suppose to plant it :(

Did you ever get your winterberry holly in the ground Peggy? I think I told you I planted one on each side of my wild bird garden they were almost three foot high this year and I have a new room mate that cuts the grass now well, guess what??? He mowed one down! Poor guy has so many plants to mow around in the field and he felt so bad when I told him lol

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Hold that thought ladies. Woke up at 2 am not feeling well. Hope it passes quickly.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)
