I think it's been a while since we had a "favorite cookbooks" thread here, so I thought I'd see if I could get some ideas for my bookshelf...
I hit up my _Joy of Pickling_ by Linda Zeidrich pretty hard every year, especially around harvest time. If my new bean plants produce a late crop, we'll be putting up dilly beans. I also got a Ball Blue Book, so I may try green beans in my pressure canner this year.
If I need a cake, I go to one of the _Cake Mix Doctor_ books, and I've got a few favorites for dinner inspiration, too, mostly ethnic or regional cookbooks.
What cookbooks inspire you in the kitchen? Which do you turn to (for me, it's _Joy of Cooking_) for basic advice and recipes?
I'm currently very excited about Debbie Troiso's new cookbook, _Cooking from the Heart_. Her DH, Frank (Herbie43) has been posting mouth-watering photos and occasional recipes for years. I know the book is a labor of love! Sharon recently wrote this article about it: http://cubits.org/writing101/articles/view/519/. Debbie also has a website where she and others are sharing favorite recipes: http://www.cookfromtheheart.com/latestbook.html
My copy should be here soon!
