I love that Rojana!
Thanks Karen, I guess you just got yourself a new plant since I have two :-)
***speechless***!!! WOW, that would be great someday when you have time. Of course I will be happy to Paypal you postage. I was wondering earlier, since many of you that specialize in the Tropical Hibs live in Fla and Cali, where do you place your beauties in the blistering heat of summer? Full direct sun, partial shade? I live near Dallas, with temps around 100-105 in July and August, and the sun can be staggeringly hot here, the kind that makes you see waves in the air. That's why I usually always keep on my beat up old cowgirl hat, as seen in my member picture, haha!
I went out today and took two cuttings from my one old Walmart tropical hib to experiment with rooting.....one woody stem dipped in root stimulator, potting mix and in baggie, one soft green stem in water. Trying to perfect rooting before asking for cuttings. I sure hope I have success!
I like them all Dee, especially "Rojana". Thanks for taking the time to post them.
I live on the San Francisco Peninsula so I don't have blistering heat for too many days a year and most of my plants are outside in at least 8 hours of full sun everyday. Someone else will have to weigh in with their experiences.
Thanks, how's your Rojana doing Jon? Still have her?
No, I gave my Rojana away last summer...... I think. It was a hibiscus tree that I had bought locally at a nursery.
My hibiscus stay outside in 3/4 to full sun year round. They don't mind the 5-6 consecutive months of high's around 90 degrees and lows in the upper 70's.
All are beautiful, Dee. What size is your Fantasy Charm? And, is it growing on its own roots? Someone told me that the bloom was usually 10-12" & the plant needed to be grafted??? All are sooo pretty. Thanks for sharing with us.
Hugs,
Judy
Well, if Fantasy Charm is grafted, it's done very well because I can't see an obvious graft. The plant is new to me and in a 2 gallon pot. Do you want to try your hand at a cutting Judy? I didn't measure it but the flower pictured above was breathtaking.
I have a couple more to post:
Chariots of Fire
Wow Dee really like Raging bull! I can't believe how fast you got a bloom on it!
I can't take any credit for that Raging Bull, it came to me with buds on it :-)
