I hatched out a baby silkie in incubatoer 16 days ago and am trying to put her in with other mama and babies that hatched 4 days ago,The mama has no problem with it but the incubator chick has imprinted on us and stays in the corner and crys really loud, the mama tries to tell it to come over with her and the other babies but it is to scared. We try everyday to put her in for a few minutes to get her used to being a chicken but so far no luck, she follows dh around just like a baby does its mother. We really want her in with the other chicks what can we do.DH put her under the mama and on top and behind her but incubator chick runs to the far cormer and screams. He tried to feed her a dead bug last night while we had her outside and she was scared to death of it,I tried to put some egg yoik in with her this morning and she ran and hide, this is not good I need help, has this happened to anyone and what did you do?She is not that much bigger than the other chicks

I'm a green newbie. What if you tired putting the bator Silkie in with them at night?

Green I have a modern game roo just like that. No kidding, I took him on a half mile walk. He never missed a beat, if he is out he is with me and its hard to get my work done. I would put him in with two gamehens his age, he would scream until I felt guilty and would go and get him. when i got tired I would lay one the grass and nap, he always snuggled under me chin. I loved his company and decided he needed to be a gamehen so to stop his screaming I would go out in the evening and get one of the girls and bring her in with him and let them both sit on my lap and watch t.v. with me. They finally became friends after a three day period of doing that and now he and the two girls are a happy threesome. When I go out to pet him after about five minutes he starts crying to be with the girls. They also love him, problem solved. Hay

Thanks for the suggestions,dh takes he/she out a few times a day while the other silkies are out running around and he puts it in the grass and she watches the others but will not go near them yet.We tried again this morning putting it in with the mama and it did not work out to much sreaming from it.So we will just take it outside so it can watch the others and maybe it will go with them soon.It did eat a bug tonight that dh caught for it.Time will tell.Hay I did go get one of the older silkie babies and held it while dh held the other but she ran under his shirt but will keep trying.

Hay, that's about the cutest chicken story I've heard yet. What was their favorite T.V. show? ;)
