A rude awakening for many Maryland residents on Friday morning.
The US Geological Survey confirms that much of the state was shaken by a minor earthquake.
The quake hit at 5:04 a.m. EDT and had a magnitude of 3.6.

Police in Washington and in nearby Montgomery County, Md., said there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage

Whole lotta shaking going on up there in Maryland?
I saw that on the news Hart, We have had some activity near our area in the last few years. Nothing big but we have never had that before. A group of us were talking about that and that we have also had some tornadoes in the last year not a lot of them but they were also something we didn't previously have. Kinda makes you wonder why. Holly
I slept through it, but Jim woke up and wondered what the quarry was doing blasting so early and for such a long sequence, LOL. I think it's the largest recorded quake for our area.
So Jill can sleep through an earthquake. LOL Ric
I got up this am just after five almost an hour earlie than my "early start on the day" plan.
So, Ric,et all can it be said that this earth quate woke me up? A neighbor about two blocks away said she felt it. Glad everyone is ok..
Tornados... often wonder if there are more or if they a re just being reported more...
LOL, yes, but let Joyanna make the smallest noise and my eyelids pop right open.
LOL--motherhood...
I slept thru the quake. I think I remember one when I was a kid, I swore the metal hangers in my closet were jingling against each other.
Nah Sally, It was just the Boogieman going out the backdoor! What else would have you up at this hour.LOL Ric
Early warning system, before he goes under the bed to eat my feet when I dangle them! I remember being actually sure that would happen!
By about 5;20 so many reports had come in that the local newscasters segway was "Well . we're waiting on confirmation about the Shake so let's go on over to weather and hear about the Bake" LOL
Critter and Sally, the mother thing works with Grandchildren, too.
LOL Sally you know I still can't fall asleep with anything hanging over the edge of the mattress. Holly
My only earthquake experience was when my daughter was living in California. We had just checked into the hotel and I heard this really loud train roaring by. I thought, "Oh, great, we got a hotel with train tracks right next to our room." Then the floor started undulating. It was a very strange feeling.
Of course I was ready to start running amuck but I went into the hallway and people were walking by just as calm as could be. Apparently it was just a baby earthquake to the Ca. folks.
LOL on the shake and bake, Coleup.
BTW, that same trip to California we toured the Roy Rogers museum. I've seen several news stories this week that they're selling off the stuffed Trigger and other things. It was pretty odd museum with all kinds of stuffed critters - Trigger, Buttermilk and Bullet - and all kinds of junk. It was like they had just emptied out everything in their attic into a museum whether it had any real relevance or not.
