Sweet corn question

Niles, MI(Zone 5a)

We had a storm last night and half of my corn was blown over., not pulled out of the ground, just blown down. We went out and straightened it up and put more dirt around the base of the plants. I'm hoping that this will help it sirvive. Am I right????????? any advice would help

Actually had the same thing happen to me last year in my raised beds. I stood mine back up, they did not look very sturdy (we were still having daily storms) so I put short bamboo stakes in the ground next to them and tied them to the bamboo. Worked like a charm and I was able to harvest my little crop. I don't know how much corn you have, but I only had four short rows of about 8 stalks in each row. Hope that helps.

Corn is very shallow rooted and will blow over easily in a storm. Happened to me last year and I did exactly what you did - I hilled up more dirt around them and it worked fine. Everytime the wind blew they leaned or blew over - lol - but still got corn;o)
