I was given this plant as Dragon's Tongue, but cannot locate in Plant files or Google as such. I also searched Devil's tongue. It turns a more intense purple in the Fall when it's cooler weather and has tiny white flowers. Can anyone point me to the correct name in Plant Files? Thanks!
Need plant ID please
Oh thank you! Yes, that's it! I have several bushes of it, some in full sun, some in full shade. This stuff just does wonderful anywhere you put it!
I love it...........Is this a hardy or winter tender plant? Hot sun or shade? Moist or dry?
It is a perennial and I have had it over 6 years or so. It dies down in the winter.Have never given it any protection. I had it in shade so good to know it can take sun!
It's definately hardy...Does die back in winter, emerges in Spring with deeper purple, silver, and neon green leaves, spectacular color....Leaves get greener as the weather heats up. Regular watering needs. Full sun, full shade or in between. I have taken one bunch and divided the roots numerous years to make about 7 plants in my yard.
I usually divide my plants with abandon...but was frightened I would lose it. I was going to try rooting. Mine is in dry shade so that would worry me if I did dig it...the memory can not be relied on to water!
Oh, good to know. David (Dde) gave me one at the spring RU and it needs planting out. I've been trying to figure out the best place to put it. Sounds like it can go just about anywhere? I have a deep shade bed where very little will grow, but I've had some luck with ferns and Solomon's seal. Think it would be pretty in that spot?
ohhh I want a piece! Patty where have you been? I use to hear from you all the time ... now you are just a memory! My phone number is the same. :)
