My winter squash leaves look like your cuke leaves.

Hey Quyen.... they sure do... except for the pattern and the white spots. I stoped at a nursery today with one of the leaves on my way to work. I didn't have alot of time but they didn't think it was mosaic. I'm gona treat tomorrow with copper and take a sample to my county extention (cornell). Hope they can help me.

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

It really doesn't look like Mosiac Virus, but I'm not entirely sure what it might be. Hopefully the Cornell office can tell you. I'm curious to know as well...

I hope my cukes last long enough to make it to Monday so I can call John (cornell agent). Their dying fast. Look at picture. I sprayed them with a Fung-onil (bonide). Its got chlorothanlonil. I was going to do copper, but didn't have time today to make. I've got copper sulfate "rocks" and it takes forever to disolve.

It looks like either downy mildew or powdery mildew.

Thanks for your replies. Bolino... your right on with the downy mildew. Merrymath... thank soooooo much for the links. I cant wait to try the apple cider treatment. The new growth on the vines looks ok so far.... but all the rest is just drying up. I hope I can save the plants. Its kinda late in the season to start over. Its just so funny that my tomatoes start just a foot away and they are fine (knock on wood?) Usually its been my tomatoes that have problems... like last years blight. I'm at work right now, but I'm stopping at the store on my way home. Thank sooooo much again. I love DG

So I went out and sprayed my cukes this morning. I cut off all the dead leaves and the ones that I felt weren't going to make it. Cleaned up everything and sprayed a whole gallon of the apple cider treatment on what was left. I sure hope that they come back. I know that I oversprayed my tomato and pepper plants. I hope they do alright.

I have sprayed twice since removing damage leavesfrom squash plants. my secong spray was a splution of 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon of shampoo and 1/2 gallon water. i decided to add the shampoo because something is nibbling at my rose leaves.

I have that problem too merrymath.... but there chomping. Some leaves on my cherry tree only have the skeliton left. Its a terrible year here for the Japaness Beatle. I went out this morning to look at the vines. Alot more of the leaves have dried up, but all in all I think its looking better. Were hoping to get some rain tomorrow.. and I'm not working this weekend, so I can spend some time in the gardens. Still supprized that my tomatoes are doing fine when there right next to the cuke plants.

I went to the garden this evening and one of my Zuke plants had keeled over. I looked at the stem and see no signs of trauma just sudden wilt. I'm having so much trouble with tomatoes you would think I would get a break here. There is another one right next to it that looks fine.

I had that happen to one of my bell pepper plants. I think it had bacterial wilt. I just pulled and distroyed the plant as I had a whole row of bells. My cukes are looking better today. All the new growth is very green. It finialy rained last night... and today. Its been about a month without rain. I'm hopeful that my corn takes on some of the water. Its all about finished (all silk is brown) but the ears are sooooo small that there not worth picking. Is it ok to use the apple cider vinegar treatment on other plants... like lilacs and bee balm? I've got alot of powdery mildew going on in my flower gardens.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

When I went to the garden this morning it looked better. I pilled off the leaves that were wilted. Who knows?

I get a light blueish grey powdery stuff on cucumbers, zucchini, and squash. I had always thought that was powdery mildew. When I spray it with a fungicide it slows down the plants eventual death. If I catch it really early I can nip it enough so that I get a decent crop. I am so impressed with Merry Math's websites.

Hi Helen. That sounds like what I had on my sweet cherries this year. I had what is called 'gray mold'. I sprayed with fungicides but still lost 95% of my crop. Commerical growers are the only ones with access to the effective fungicides. I am working on getting some... but most are hesitent to part with any. I am trying the apple cider vinegar treatment. I sprayed again this morning after taking off some more dead leaves. The new growth is still looking good and I have more blossoms. I'll have to post a new picture. There's not a whole lot left.

Kirby, it would be interesting to know how effective an apple cider vinegar spray would be. You may want to alternate the Apple Cider Vinegar spray with a baking soda spray .. that is what they recommend for roses .... spray once a week and alternate the sprays. It is working nicely for my roses. Earlier in the season I thought my roses were doom to die!

Lewiston, NY(Zone 6a)

Hi Merrymath.... good idea... I'm going to try that. I'm still working on getting Bravo and Ranman. I've had soooo much problem the the last couple years with different fungus'
I get feeds from MSU and they have recomended alternating treatments too. Check the 'table' in this article: http://ipmnews.msu.edu/vegetable/vegetable/tabid/151/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/2998/Cucurbit-downy-mildew-update.aspx
