I got Bernstein four years ago, but lost it when it blew over in a windstorm, landed in my neighbors driveway and she ran over it with her car. I bought another last year and it finally bloomed today. This brug is wonderful. I really prefer the singles, they bloom more and I live the perfect flower. This is just one of her many flowers and buds.
Wow! It's color looks more like a peachy cantaloupe than yellow-gold! I love it!! I would love to see my Bernstein take on that color. I love my singles also and for the same reason you do. It's funny to see people ask for doubles and triples only.
Brenda that flower is beautiful! I prefer the singles too. The doubles I have don't do nearly as well as the singles.
