They do seem to get more mellow as they get bigger - unless of course it is a feeding frenzy!

Mine act like Pavlov's dogs, which is why it's hard to get a picture of them being still. As soon as they hear (actually I think they feel) the sliding glass door open, they rush the side of the pool expecting to get fed! All my pics are blurry. :)
Mine do that too. The slider opens and they think it is meal time. I let the dogs out..they think its time to eat. I go out to water they think its meal time. I go to clean the filters they think its meal time. So no wonder they go crazy when you actually give them some food.!! LOL!

that is funny - makes me think of a lot of false starts and when they finally get the food, they go crazy.
I always feel badly if I don't have anything to feed them - the fish come running up to the side of the pond when I go by and they act like excited puppies!
Yes, thats it, they do act like excited puppies :) I try and get their food in the middle of the pond, so the darn herons don't have easy prey! I have to take still pics as my movie camera is on the fritz :( A few days ago, I saw some bullhead babies, surrounded by the adults guarding them by circling around them. We have had ducks and geese in the pond, so I guess thats where they came from, grrr I am not sure if you can see the fish?
