WANTED: Chinaberry Tree
I have a variegated chinaberry seedling but cannot trade it to Texas. I got the parent plant several years ago at either Yucca Doo nursery (in Texas) or Worldplants, can't remember which.. It was inexpensive...$7 I think. If you have no luck in a trade you might check there and see if they still have them
I have some chinaberry - how many? What do you have besides seeds & cuttings? I want rooted plants, if interested dmail me.
This tree is listed on the Texas invasive trees list:

I have one in my yard and it is a horrible weed - I am constantly pulling seedlings. You might wish to do a google.com search to see if you really want this plant.
Does that mean it's illegal to ship to TX? It is a really pretty tree, I've had wisteria that was just as bad oh yea & that darn vinca vine, it goes everywhere & you can't hardly get rid of it. I could name so many more. I guess it's what you're willing to put up with, me I'd rather stay away from spreading plants but it seems everything I have meanders somewhere. LOL!!
Yes, if its on the official invasive list published by the Texas Dept of Agriculture, then its illegal to ship it to Texas
Here is a site, listing some of the recommended trees for Texas:

OMG!!! Thank you soooooooo much for that info. if in doubt from now on I will check. I'm sorry but with this new info. I can't send.
Chinaberry is native to Texas, so if Brandon really thinks he wants one in his yard, he can take a trip to the scrub lands, where it grows naturally.
You are right, Kay...it is everywhere, but may not be down near Beaumont...unfortunately, the tree likes it a little drier...like Austin north!...It is reallllly a pest and requires constant vigilence!
Okay well nevermind this whole idea. Kay, these trees do not grow native in this part of Texas along the coast. The area where I see them growing is in west Texas up in the hill country, and thats a 5 hour drive at least. Thanks anyway fellas, I might just see if I can find one and collect seeds off of it somewhere.
If it's not listed as invasive for Georgia, it SHOULD be......ugh!
LOL thanks to everyone that responded, but from the sound of things, as pretty of a tree that it is, I have changed my mind. LOL
