Ah how cute. I had a little wheaten maran baby named Sweetie Pie that had a deformed foot. I had him in with a bear too when he was little. He became very attached to it. He was still so lonesome that I put in a baby golden cuckoo marans with him named Cuckoo Baby. Well Sweetie Pie and Cuckoo Baby fought over that bear so much. They both wanted to sit on the bear's lap and Sweetie Pie wouldn't let Cuckoo Baby on there. It was really pretty funny. Sweetie Pie meant buisness and was not going to share!! Later on when Sweetie Pie could walk better, I put him in with the rest of the chicks and I put the bear in with them too so Sweetie Pie would feel safer. He would jump on the bear's lap and not let any of the other chicks near the bear lol. I finally took the bear out because it caused too much fighting.

That's Sweetie Pie (the little yellow chick) on the bear's lap not letting the others on lol.

that is very cute. I saw someone somewhere selling little animals for that purpose and they are washable

This one is a beany baby that my grandaughter gave to to chick,I was just watching the chick and she is pushing it around and sitting on top of it.I`m hoping when the silkie broody hatches out her chicks this comming wensday that I will be able to put this one under her at night and she will accept it as her own there will be about two weeks difference in age,its not fair to keep her with no playmates.

Bridgewater, ME

Well that did not work out,the broody would have taken her but she wanted out and was very vocal about it.This is Jadee at three weeks,we take her outside and let her run around, the other silkies are out to but so far she stays away form them hoping to intergrate soon.

Dh put her out in the coop last night when it got dark, put her under the silkie mama, then went out early this morning and checked and she was in the far corner by herself trying to get out so in she came in again, she was cold. Will try again in a few days.

Stubborn little tyke!

That is too cute. I would have to let that one follow me around.

Bridgewater, ME

She goes out everyday and is on the ground with the other silkies that are free rangeing but they don`t bother with each other.I tried the other day putting her in with the mama and babies and she was trembling so bad as soon as I opened the coop door that I could not leave her so I sat on the floor and put her down and she flew up on my lap and tried to get op on my neck,so I have decided that she will not be put in there again untill she is full grown.

Bridgewater, ME

Well, Jadee made it to the silkie coop last night, had to take aquarium and all out and as long as she is in that she is ok,made dh build a shelf to sit it on cause the silkie coop is really small and already have a lot of silkies on the ground. She seems fine untill I put her on the floor,so at least she will relize she is a chicken and not a human.

Now there's a clever solution!

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

Has Jadee figured out how to be a chicken?

(Zone 5b)

How funny, I was just thinking about Jadee the other day! How is it going?

Bridgewater, ME

Jadee got moved into the big coop she outgrew her fish tank,so I put her in a cage my dh made in the big coop and took two of the silkie babies that are two week younger than her and put them in the with her a few days ago and she was scared of them at first but she will eat with them now but will not roost with them she roosts by herself. My plan is for her to get close to them and then move all three into the silkie coop in a few weeks,Jadee is the one in front, her head feathers are still white with black stripes don`t know if that will change as she get older or not she is kinda funny looking.

Jadee finally make it into the flock, she has been in there for a week now and is doing fine. She is the one to the right in front.
