First bloom from my hybridizing attempts

Puyallup, WA

dabbed pollen, waited for seed pods to ripen, planted seeds and waited. Now a few are starting to bloom.

Great dabbing! Beautiful!

Thanks for the kind words. I can't wait to see blooms on all of them. All my parents are variegated and from the seed I got about 95% variegated. Just took the strongest, healthiest of those, about 40 of them. Have another tray of babies started. Karen

That is amazing -- to be able to create something beautiful like that. Karen, if you have too many of them you know who might be interested, don't you? lol

Nice result. If I were you, I think I'd be very proud of myself! I tried hybridizing (violets) once about 15 years ago, not even seriously, but it sure did require some patience.

I'll keep it in mind, Carpathiangirl. I have the first one that bloomed basically blue, looks just like the parent. So that one might need a home. I need to save the space for the ones with new colors.
