Yippee! Eastern N.C. Iris Society's fundraiser almost here!

Raleigh, NC

I cannot WAIT. It's July 17th. So excited I'm going to BUST.

It's going to be in north Raleigh again this year. We are trying to organize a later sale over at Sarah P. Duke gardens, but Bob and I haven't worked that out yet.

Happen to know we are getting only east coast grown irises this year, so these will grow better in our Carolina gardens. I still have difficulties whenever I plant irises from the west coast, always lose a percentage of them. The "westies" often take an extra two years to adjust to our humidity. Not this year! Even so, we are getting all the same hybridizers. And we have an order in for lots of rebloomers, too! Oh - I'm going to be there helping set up and break down. But for the 1st 30 mins., I'm going to be SHOPPING!

Here's a photo of a short iris I took last year in one of the gardens supplying irises this year

Where in North Raleigh - can anyone come?

Raleigh, NC

open to public - I posted the announcement in the events area on Craigslist.

Raleigh, NC

LOL - I'm so excited, I forgot to post the address!

105 Trotters Ridge Drive, Raleigh, NC 27614 - in the driveway.

that's just about a mile north on Six Forks Road (towards Falls Lake) from the Interstate-540 and Six Forks Road exit.

Saturday, July 17 from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm or until sold out.

They tried for several other places with better parking, but with this heat we've had lately, none of those had air conditioned areas available. This is at Susan and Glenn Grigg's house. Their street is should hold all the parked cars easily, and their driveway is nice and wide, so it should be OK. She's president of ENCIS (local iris society). He's a member of the daylily society. He has a large daylily collection, too.

By the Way - there's another iris society in the Charlotte area of N.C. They are also having a fundraiser sale on the 17th. They usually do theirs at a local farmer's market, but I don't know which one.

oh, man - I'm donating irises to this sale, and it's so hot out I can barely breathe while digging. wish me luck y'all!

You make it sound like so much fun. Wish we could all be with you next weekend.

It'll be a LOT of work!

Hyannis, MA(Zone 7a)

Have you been to the Iris Lady in Winston Salem???

Raleigh, NC

iris lady in Winston? DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS ONE!

PLEASE DO TELL!

Been last two days helping dig up and process the bearded irises from Dr. Roy Epperson's garden with ENCIS members and staff of High Point Univ. grounds crew. They are taking one of each to create a memorial garden to him. Many of rest are going to family and friends. Some were given to us as gifts.

All rest are going to be sold in another sale for our benefit. How nice is that?

But even with their men digging, this morning my hands feel like I've been washing dishes in bleach and ajax for 20 years!
