Growing Black Currant Swirl From Seed :)

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I've just finished soaking my seeds and they're planted, any good advice?

I hope you are aware that Black Currant Swirl is a Datura, a Thornapple despite what Park Seed calls them. Angel's Trumpet refers to Brugmansias.

So a Datura, is a tree type like brugs? What's the difference between the two?

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

their families have been understood as different.. and they have been split... there are a number of differences.. basicly the daturas flowers are pointing upward.. with the smaller end near the ground...where the devil might use them... hince the common name Devils Trumpet.. the Brugmansias flowers hang down or stick straight out.. where an angel might have access to them.. hince the common name of angels trumpet.. the seed pods differ.. as does it's growth..
there's a fine bunch of folks over at the datura forum..
right off I'd place them in the sun and wait..

Josh, A datura is altogether a different genus and species. It is related to Brugmansias. Many daturas are short lived perennials or annuals and are usually relatively short shrubs — ~ 5' tall. Brugs are long lived trees and shrubs that can grow up to 25+ feet. As Gordon mentioned Daturas hold their blooms upright while Brugs hold theirs from horizontal to pendent dependent upon the species and their mixes. Brug seedpods are smooth skined. Datura seedpods have all sorts of projections thus their common name Thornapples. Mature Brugmansia shoots are woody, but Datura shoots are herb-like with only a slightly woody base. It takes Brugmansias a relatively long time before they bloom, but Daturas have a very short growth period before blooming. Brug seeds have a corky covering. Datura seeds do not. According to Preissel and Preissel, in Brugs the formation and development of flowers is influenced by temperature. Daturas are influenced by light.
