Talihina, OK

We are finally getting some rain here in Talihina,Ok. but from watching TWC it is nothing compared to the Houston/Conroe/Willis areas so how much and do Y'all have any damage to your plants..

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

We got 5.5 inches from the whole event, the plants are bent over and soggy, but no real damage here.
Josephine.

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

We're lookin' at about 6.5" over a few days....still some rain in the area...but nothing like the past couple of days/nights

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Our rain has been the nice slow kind of rain, so no storms or storm damage. We did lose our electricity a few nights ago, but I think that was probably from someone hitting a transformer, not from the weather. My plants have LOVED the rain and cooler temps. I've enjoyed being able to work out in the yard without suffocating and not having to lug the hose around.

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

I am still under threat to get more rain..Been raining here off and on for the last 4 days..I hear thundering here but nothing pouring out of the sky yet but will get it this evening..will need to haybale my yard soon as this is over..Haven't had hardly any plant damage but there is water in the grass as you walk over it.. my feet wears rubber boots for now while out in the yard..now skeeters are another story to tell..lol..

Talihina, OK

Well I guess the skeeters and chiggers are the price we have to pay for nice rain ,I think this is the nicest cool day ever in July, picked a 3 gal. bucket of better boy mater this morning and the trombone zuchinni is going crazy,,now if only the cukes would get it on maybe the D.W. would stop worrying about her daily ration (6 large) so far pretty well short of her quota...

Brazoria, TX(Zone 9b)

14 inches at my house the past 3 days. Closer to Sweeny than Brazoria. My veggie garden is flooded as well as my flowers and fruit trees. I have 20 tomatoe plants that are producing that I was looking forward to canning, all underwater. My peppers are all drooping with large California Wonders still on them, dug potatoes today from the mud and got all I could before they start to rot, all my flowers and perineals are underwater. I don't think my fruit trees are going to be affected a lot as the water is draining from them this evening. The last time we got flooded was in 2003 and we survived as well as the trees and plants. Up until Wednesday, we were in a drought. the photo is of 2 of my greenhouses(shadehouses) under water. Fortunately, all the plants were on benches and did not get flooded. On the upside.............I won't have to water for a few days. We are all wearing rubber boots looking out for the undersireables.

Susie, that is a lot of water, I hope it dries out soon and you plants won't be damaged.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Your potted plants look quite comfortable in their lawn chairs...

Goodness! That's a lot of water.

Arlington, TX

I think I have had enough rain myself, The last downpour pounded down many plants...I guess I just can't be happy.

Dallas, TX

Dammed if we do and dammed if we dont! :(

Brazoria, TX(Zone 9b)

Anyone watching the next approaching storm.....be prepared, looks like it's on same track as last week. We are just now able to clean up some of the damage. I pulled all my cucumber plants, pepper plants and tomatoe plants. Getting ready to replant.
Ornamentals and fruit trees look okay.

Rained more here overnight. Put in about 18 new plants yesterday, so that long drink was good. :-) Was getting worried I might not be able to carry them in the pots too much longer. On the flip side, the weedy grass is taking over my iris and more rain makes it more aggressive. Ah, well, time to recruit the kids from the office, then. LOL

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

Raining again here......not heavy like earlier,...but steady...for 5 min or so....a 10 acre shower, maybe

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

I think we (north Texas) got July weather in June, and are now having June weather in July! And there is more rain in the forecast for this week. I'm loving it. So are my plants and lawn. :-)

Mine, too. :-) Been frustrating because it will be pouring at our office just two miles south of my house and not a drop AT my house...

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

The news said some areas by Del Rio, TX had 15-20 inches and they expect heavy rains to hit that area again this week.
We had 2.5 inches at my orchard over a 3 day period.
Grasshoppers are a total nightmare this year. They ate an entire apple tree, bark and all.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Goodness Gracious!!! how big was the tree?

Talihina, OK

Not worried about how big was the tree HOW BIG WERE THE HOPPERS????

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

Eight foot tree. Three inch hoppers.
You may have read about my orchard "IN THE BIBLE"!!!!!!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL Jujube! Was it like the plague of locusts?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Wow!! I hope they stop chewing soon, that is really scary.

Arlington, TX

A plague of locast, who would of thought...

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

They are still around in great numbers. They are just eating the leaves on some of the other trees which I can handle for now.

Lets not hijack this thread. I just wanted to vent. HA!

BACK TO RAIN!!!!

Got another 3/4" last night so we are in great shape for awhile not to worry about the hijack thing we loved your story...

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

We're supposed to get "soaking rains" today. Wonder what that means exactly???

(Debra) Garland, TX

If you step out in it, you'll get soaked, but your yard will still look like the Gobi? :-) Hoping for a nice steady rain. Have kids coming over this weekend to pull some nasty grassy-weedy stuff and it comes up much easier if the soil is damp. Which means they can get more of it pulled! LOL

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

Some more rain right now.....some yesterday too............grass is very high....think I saw an elephant pass thru the front earlier this mornin'

(Debra) Garland, TX

Need us to send you a pith helmet and safari jacket? :-)

(Hope it doesn't get too bad, there.)

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Just watch out for those mosquitoes!

Arlington, TX

I don't want more intense rain but a shower would be nice. I know we need it though so a "soaking rain" is welcome to. I honestly think they just say things that have no real meaning. Grass is green and I only had to water the potted plants yesterday so I guess I like the rain, bring it on!
