I live in Mesa Arizona. During the winter rains I spotted a flock of these birds at an irrigation run off area near the Arizona canal. As the water dried up the birds became fewer and fewer until they were all gone. I'm guessing they aren't Arizona natives.

That's black necked stilt. Wow I didnt know they would be by you. I'm here in Florida and see them pretty often. Nice find.
Yep, Black-necked Stilt. Sibley maps them as breeding in Arizona.

Thats amazing, breeding in Arizona, I figured it was just travelling through.
They are beautiful birds. When I was new to birding, I called them Ballerina Birds.
