CLOSED: TRADE: Named Daylilies, Mints, Heirloom Irises

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

FOR TRADE ONLY! NONE FOR SASE! All SASE or For Postage requests will be ignored.

I'm redesigning my gardens with particular themes and I have lots of named daylilies for trade for other named daylilies and plants that suit the themes of my gardens. My primary interests are:

named daylilies
named Louisiana Irises
named Jap irises
named Hostas
named HARDY hibiscus (particularly Confederate Rose, WHITE TX Star, Turn of the Century)
Butterfly bushes (like Honeycomb, Rainbow, Pink Delight, etc)
Black Cohosh (particularly Hillside Black Beauty or Black Neglige)
Black Elderberry
Golden Elderberry
Rice Paper plants
Unusual Sedums
Ornamental Grasses
Climbing roses (would like two identical climbers that bloom continuously from spring thru fall to put on an arbor in the wedding garden)

I'll consider other unusual plants that fit my themes as well. I need WELL-ROOTED plants, not freshly rooted cuttings or seeds. I don't have time to baby anything.

Each daylily trade will be a Double Fan. Each daylily is accurately named--has been registered with AHS and I've confirmed that it is true to name. If trading daylilies with me, please be certain your daylilies are true to name. There's nothing more frustrating than expecting a Darla Anita and getting a Catherine Woodbery instead.

I'm looking to do larger trades of multiple plants. I won't trade for just one or two plants. I can usually buy them easier and cheaper than packing mine up and paying the postage to ship them.

I send nice, healthy plants and expect the same in return. I do NOT trade for seeds or cuttings. I need well-rooted plants, and that's what you'll get from me.

I ship in a box by priority mail and expect the same in return.

I am currently working on a wedding garden and want to fill it with love-themed plants. I have daylilies like "Bridal Path," "Big Kiss", "Chance Encounter", etc. Would like others in a similar theme.

There will be a Honeymoon Suite which will contain tropical-themed plants, like daylilies named after vacation resorts or that have "sea" or something similar in it as well as romance. (For instance, I already have "Jamaican Me Crazy", "Spiny Sea Urchin," "Victoria's Secret", and "Love after Dark".).

My gardens are mostly full sun, so I'm looking primarily for drought tolerant, sun lovers. I do have a small shade garden and would love to get a few hostas or heucheras with a love/romance theme.

I'm also working on a butterfly garden, serenity garden, and edible garden. I'm collecting daylilies and other plants with "butterfly" in the name or that attracts butterflies. (In daylilies, I already have Paper Bfly, Jungle Bfly, Emperor Bfly, Mokan Bfly, Chromatic Bfly, Japanese Bfly, Green Flutter, and Malaysian Monarch).

I'll also trade for garden decor like stained glass art, butterflies, garden signs, windchimes, etc. of similar value to my plants. Would love to get a buddha and pagoda for the serenity garden.

What I have to trade are:

DAYLILIES:

Reds:
Pirate Lord (Munson)
Sultan's Fury
Dominic
Frans Hals
In the Dark
Whooperee
Departure Time
Crimson Pirate
Black Plush (blackish red)
Haunting Melody (pinkish red)

Just So
Red Ribbons (spider)
Chinese Scholar (double)

Yellows/Oranges:
Happy Returns
Hudson Valley
Crystal Tide
Green Puff
Ruffled Panties
Wynn
Duke of Durham
Rocket City

Pinks/Peaches/Purple/Other:
Dacquiri
Pink Ballerina
Kecia (Munson)
Prairie Belle
Well All Right (double)
Butterfly Kisses
Chorus Line
Sea of Stars
Cleo (spider)
Violet Eyeshadow
Chicago Jewel
Tigerling
Prairie Blue Eyes

Siloams:
Siloam Ethel Smith
S. Baby Talk
S. Nugget
S. Dan Tau
S. Junebug
S. Fairy Tale

Candys:
Blackberry Candy
Custard Candy
Vanilla Candy
Wineberry Candy

I also have these Mints - will send the equivalent of a full 4" potful, but bareroot (no pot or soil):
Spice Mint
Ginger Mint
Blackberry Mint

Bearded Irises:
Heirloom Dark Purple
Heirloom Peach or Pink with orange beard
Heirloom Pale Lavender

If interested in trading with me, let me know. Please don't be offended if I don't trade with you. I am an advanced gardener with limited space in my gardens now, so I'm looking only for the best plants for what space I have left.

If you need to see pics of any of the daylilies or irises, let me know. I think I have pics of all of them.

Thank you for reading all this!

Can I just say that is just an impressive garden! Beautiful!!!

Thank you Lilimerci. It's taken 12 years to get to this stage and this year I'm redoing it all with themed garden "rooms", like English-style gardening. When I began many years ago, I didn't know a thing about gardening, but we'd just finished building the house and I wanted some "purty flo'ers" up around my house. For a long time, everything died, and the suddenly some Richard Wallace cannas survived, and I was hooked from that moment on. Then the problem became not knowing where to stop. I put up the privacy fence last year to finally give me some boundaries. LOL (However, I did have to plant a 4 - 6 ft strip all around on the outside of the fence, but that's as far as I'm going...I think... Here's a new bed outside the fence. I'll add more to it later.

LOL! There is no such thing as 'boundary' in gardening. Don't let me hijack your thread.

You're not hijacking, Lili. You're the only one to respond. So now I don't feel so invisible. LOL

butterflychaser,do have pictures of your Bearded Irises?

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Thank you for the compliment, Trish. I absolutely love playing in the dirt. People ask me all the time why I want to work so hard. It is work, but it's work I enjoy. Gardening soothes my soul. When my daylilies are in bloom, I'm up at 3:30 a.m. waiting on the sun so I can go out and see who popped up to say howdy today. Everyday is like Christmas from June to Aug. No one in my family gets it, but one day, when I get it set up like I want it, maybe they'll begin to understand.

Dori, I do have pics of my irises. Here's the peach one:

Dori, why don't you dmail me a list of the irises or other plants you have for trade. Most everything on your trade list says "out". Maybe we can work something out. I love your Tango lilies. The different cultivars are so pretty!

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

If it's something you enjoy, then it's technically not work!! It's a HOBBY!!

Newfield, NY

i would love to play in may flower bed all day.but i have to work to make money to buy more plant...lol yes its a hobby

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Well, it is a little more than a hobby for me. I do sell my plants and seeds. I'm now hybridizing daylilies for future registration. And I'm currently redesigning my entire into garden rooms which I will rent out to local photographers for photo shoots. I may also rent out my gardens for small group meetings. My brother owns the vacant lot next door, and I've toyed with the idea of putting a nursery or daylily farm there. So part of the reason I work so hard is so my gardens can work for me at some point. Right now, they pretty much pay for themselves, for all the structures I've built and all the new plants I acquire. But I hope at some point to make a profit with them. There's not much that is more rewarding than working at something you love.

I do work part time as well to help with the bills, but much of the work can be done after dark. I don't sleep much so I manage to accomplish quite a bit in a day.

Just inside for a quick break. It's so humid today. They're predicting rain. I hope it's a significant amount; my gardens are terribly dry.

WOW NancyAnn you have a good plan!
