Hi, all. I am planning to try a few Hibiscus-the tropical kind. I've done a bit of searching and the info I've found is skimpy about overwintering them. Are they pretty easy to overwinter inside?
Anyone mind telling me how they do it?
Thanks, Kyle
Overwintering Hibiscus
I have just recently started my own tropical hibiscus collection. Living in CT, I need to overwinter. I have a nice sunny window they will all fight for. Since I have a few too many, I plan on setting up a grow light in front of the window.
If you go to www.hiddenvalleyhibiscus.com and read up on each different variety he has in his gallery, he explains the needs for each one. Some actually do well in a shadier location, like Sleeping Beauty, who only needs 1-2 hours of sun a day to thrive. They are very knowledgeable there.
I think they are good as long as the inside temp stays above 60º. But I am no expert, I've only been reading and talking to all the great people on DG
Good luck, and let me know if you find anything good out, may help me too!
