Definitely a Brugmansia but looks like a bunch of rags or someone said silk handkerchiefs.
Can anyone assist in identifying this unusual bloom.
It's called a shredded Brugmansia. The corolla and skirt are separated into petals instead of being fused.

I found Handkerchief Brugmansias on a Nursery site - Culera Brugmansia Aurea. It has leaves which are long and narrow whereas mine are more rounded like the regular Brugmansia. Am I right in assuming these are two separate varieties.

Yes, they are two different varieties. The shredded Brugmansia is a hybrid. Several forms of the species aurea have some natural forms with'Culebra'B. aurea
The species aurea is the only species that produces a variety of different leaf shapes. Culebra is one of them.
