Can anyone assist in identifying this unusual bloom.

Definitely a Brugmansia but looks like a bunch of rags or someone said silk handkerchiefs.

It's called a shredded Brugmansia. The corolla and skirt are separated into petals instead of being fused.

Thanks Bettydee.

I found Handkerchief Brugmansias on a Nursery site - Culera Brugmansia Aurea. It has leaves which are long and narrow whereas mine are more rounded like the regular Brugmansia. Am I right in assuming these are two separate varieties.

Thanks Bettydee,

Went to the website you gave me. No more questions. I'm new to Forums on Daves Garden and this was most helpful and very fast.

Yes, they are two different varieties. The shredded Brugmansia is a hybrid. Several forms of the species aurea have some natural forms with'Culebra'B. aurea

The species aurea is the only species that produces a variety of different leaf shapes. Culebra is one of them.
