Okay I know I feel dumb here cause I should know what this is but my mind has been going so many directions lately
I walked the yard with Dh the other day as he was asking about the beauty bush and what was bush and what was weeds ...sadly to say I think he ruined the bush and killed it by cutting things back before asking as I did not see a bush anyplace.
Anyway when we got to the other side I have a "trellis" in the shade and this lil dear is growing there.
I thought I had planted a passion vine there but now I'm not sure what I have LOL
Help??
What am I growing?
Phyllis it is a passion vine and that is the fruit.
Josephine.
Lucky you!
Speaking of passis, I have a question. I have a new lil Lady Margaret. I read somewhere that it's not hardy here in NT, so I put it in a pot, where it's very happily growing up a trellis. But I was wondering what to do about it in the fall. Will it be okay if I cut it back and put it in the garage for the winter?
I keep my tender potted plants outside in the winter and only bring them in if we are going to have a freeze, and bring them out again after it is over.
Well, I can only manage it once. I have too many things that need 55+ temps, and it takes me most of an afternoon to do all of that. My garage does have a window, though, so most things just go nicely dormant, and then in the spring they come right back.
With the passifloras, I was more concerned about cutting them back. I can't take their trellis in with them. It won't hurt them, will it, if I cut them back to say 8-10 inches?
No it won't hurt at all to cur them back.
That looks like a Passiflora Caerulea. It should be evergreen down to 12 degrees. It is a very cold hardy Passi.
That little bugger is a runner, its everywhere and it wont bloom and I never saw any fruit! I continue to cut it down because it strangles everything. Its suppose to have white flowers, but I never seen any. :(
Thanks Josephine I knew someone would know
