I was just watching "Making it Grow" and they said firefly larvae eat slugs. I did a bit of research and found they also eat snails and earthworms.
I'm so glad to find something that eats slugs and snails.
The larvae look kind of ugly, but I'm going to be on the look out for them from now on so they can be my first line of defense against slugs.
Firefly larvae eat slugs & snails
We have tons of fireflys here. And tons of slugs. You suppose the fireflys are attracted by the slugs? Am I depriving a firefly baby from a meal if I kill slugs?
Honeybee, thank you. I had to walk the puppy ( I BEGGED him to wait, but noooo-oooo) and missed that. I am so glad to hear that the lightning bugs are doubly wonderful critters:). Good tomato tips, too...
bolino - don't worry about the fire flies geting enough slugs to eat - there's plenty to go around! LOL
catmad - I enjoy "Making It Grow's" down-home flavor. Next time your doggie wants to "go" during the show, hit the record button on your VCR/DVR - (or whatever they call them these days!)
Sigh, the cows killed my DVR. It's now watch it real time, or forget it...
How can cows kill a DVR?
What network does "Making it Grow" come on?
"How can cows kill a DVR?"
Apparently by the beasts getting the wire attached to it pulled lose from under the siding, wrapping it around a leg, and walking away. Before the wire snaps, the DVR will be pulled off the table, and up the wal, and then, when the wire breaks, dropped.
Of course, I'm convinced that my SO did it and won;t admit that he forgot it was hooked up. I really have trouble believing the cows coiled the wire neatly on the porch.
Which he swears must have been done after it was broken.
Making it Grow is local the N/S Carolina, I think.

Oh, phooey!
Those are some very neat cows to coil the wire up like that, lol !

catmad - Do those neat cows do windows?
I laughed so loud at your post, my hubby wanted to share, so I read him your post. All I got out of him was: "What's a DVR?" Then I had to explain that we already had one, and described what it did. He's almost 78 and not quite intune with the 21st century! LOL
Honeybee -- that is not totally a bad thing!
(not to say that I could no longer live without the DVR...)
;-)
What needs to be done to windows??
Oh, wait. I think that there are people who (gulp) wash them? If I need to see out, I just open them.
In answer to your question, they have been known to lick them, but it doesn't seem to make them much cleaner :)
Joe doesn't know what a DVR is, either, so has no idea why I'm so annoyed that I'll have to be glued to the TV for several hours I usually spend more productively...
But glad you got a giggle out of it. Someone should :(.
