Any body else grow this? Its a relative of the brugs and daturas.Do I treat it like a brug???Its in the house now for the winter.CC
Chalice vine
what is it's other name? I'll have to find this (like I need another plant!! )
tiG,look on the identification thread under my post"please help identify" tons of links on it.CC
oh, I'd been following this, but missed where it said chalice vine. It's very pretty, good luck with it!!! and if you get crosses, we knew you when:)
CC,
I have two of these...one has green and white leaves and the other one has solid green leaves....had them since last fall but no fowers yet. Mine are in a container on the deck and the vine must be 10 feet long or so...think it's supposed to be a fall bloomer. I'll check Google and see what it says. I guess I'll put mine in the greenhouse for the winter
tiG....no need to look any further....will be cutting later in the season.
wow, cool, thank you!!!!
I had no clue what it was that I rooted.Hope I can keep it over the winter.Do you have a picture of the one with green and white leaves??
I am growing two Solandra maxima variegata, which I got from Logee's. There is the regular non-variegated form at Strybing in San Francisco -- it is spectacular in bloom. The variegated form gets purplish new leaves, very showy. The vine is very big and heavy, so I have tied it up against a wire fence. I expect them to bloom next winter or spring.
Guess I put mine in the wrong spot since I'll have to move it into the greenhouse later...how in this world am I going to move this thing without breaking it?
Don't frett, you can root what you break off.Now that I think about it ,it must be related to the brugs cause thats one of the only things I can root.
