I found these on my Ruby Star coneflower and thought Id share
just sharing..
You must have a super camera to get such closeups. I have macro on my Nikon but I'm afraid by the time I sneak up on them, off they go.
my camera is an old olympus digital... so old that it pauses before the pic is actually taken...lol..it has a 3.0 megapixel so the optics are good.. they would have been sharper if the wind hadnt been blowing and if I had had a tripod but I saw them feeding when I was watering the rest of the beds so I ran back to the house for the camera and started shooting..I slowly approched them then used the zoom from about 3 ft away... they were just so into feeding they pretty much ignored me...
Oh, I could probably try that. I have zoom on my Nikon Coolpix. I'll try and see what happens.
Those are really beautiful, good job!!
thanks Josephine.. I had a girl friend in HS whos name was astrid josephine.. I used to call her josie and when I see your name I think of her...(S)
Great shots! The first is a TST (Tiger Swallowtail) and I believe the other is a Pipevine Swallowtail. Seeing them in the garden makes all the hard work we put in worth it.
I have macro mode but only use it when the subject is not moving at all and with a tripod... taking pics in Macro mode and doing it hand held usually leads to disappointing pics.. people think they can hold it steady enough but most of us cant ...a tripod makes a huge difference in the sharpness of your pictures.. if you dont a have a tripod set it up using the timer and then take it that way... it will still make a huge difference in the quality of your pictures..
