A few photos from today starting with Hibiscus "Dragon's Heart" and Calla Lily "Cantor"
Hibiscus & Friends Blooms From Ft Lauderdale June 25, 2010
JON!!! That Dragon Heart is gorgeous! So are all your hibiscus! I love looking at them all, keep them coming!! Is Dragon Heart related to Black Dragon?
Thanks Kristen. "Dragon's Heart" and "Black Dragon" are both offspring of "Dragon's Breath". The other parent in each cross is different. I guess that would make them brothers and/or sisters in law. Hehe
Beautiful blooms, Jon. Like the color contrasts you've made. My favorite is Pocohontas but all are stunning. Thanks for sharing with us.
Hugs,
Judy
I was wondering when we'd see another Funny Voodoo...Love those Voodoo's and Tigerama!!! what a looker!
For some reason all the hibiscus in pots are starting to bloom pretty good and the ones in the ground are lagging behind. I'm curious to see if my "Galaxy Star" puts out "Galaxy Star" and "Galaxy Star Sport" blooms again this year. It put out a "sport" bloom today, but haven't seen the regular bloom in quite some time.
Hi John,
Your photo's look great, we have a Dragon's heart also but hasn't bloomed yet, last winter I rooted a cutting of pocahontas so I just thought I would let you know that it roots fairly easy.
Patrick
Thanks Patrick. Would you believe I've never tried rooting a hibiscus cutting. Probably should try it some day. Have always grafted cuttings on root stock. "Dragon's Heart" will probably be a several day bloom for you up there. It tends to stay open more than a day here, even in the summer. That's not very common down here in the summer. It's also a tough one to photograph well. Most of the photos want to portray it as more red than it really is.
Good to know that about Pocahontas! Thanks Patrick.
