Received my packet of good bugs today

Crestview, FL

I got my 1,000 ladybugs, 1,500 lacewing eggs and 1,500,000 beneficial nematoads today. My daughter distributed the eggs while I distributed the ladybugs on my plants. My question is this though, I noticed that the ladybug has listed as a predator lacewing larvae? Why in the world would I want the lacewing larvae eating my ladybugs? And why would a company sell these two together knowing that?

Lol, they thought of more bugs in a Florida garden is mortifying to me, so I'll be very interested to know how you fare with these.

Not to hijack your thread, but I absolutely cannot get rid of aphids on my peppers. Have you had success with any product? They seem impervious to Sevin and insecticide soaps.

I use Neem concentrate and Organdcide .

Lady bugs and lacewings love eating aphids. LOL

I have aphids on my hot peppers. I sprayed Neem oil. Just noticed one ladybug (Yes!). I am a newbie gardener so pardon me if I sound ignorant (that is because i am) but I was wondering how long before it reproduces??? Should I wait or leave it to mothernature??? I don't want to spray pesticides. Help!
PS I live in Sanford, Florida.

Hi Joy! Just curious to know if the good bugs are still hanging around and doing their job?

Crestview, FL

TPlant: Nope, they fled or got gobbled up by the stinkbugs, I hate them things, no predators that I know of for them. But; I don't give up easy either, do I? LOL I'm going to spray the entire property this Spring with beneficial nematodes that should take care of over 200 types of bugs that come out of the ground. Then I'm thinking of a mixture of Dr. Bonners peppermint soap, Tobasco, Garlic, a bit of canola oil and water and spray all my plants with this. I am cutting back to about 30 tomatoes, 6 eggplant and going to try crook neck yellow squash, and have cukes, corn, okra and peppers this summer. I will planting about 60-100 strawberries this November and potatoes again in January. Then, that is it, til Spring. I'm growing most my plants from seed this Spring/Summer.

Here is what is on the menu:

Tomatoes: Burpee's Porterhouse - I loved that one this past season
Burpee's Supersteak - That one outgrew the EBs, so will use the 5 gallon HEBs this time.
Mountain Belle - I bought the seed from Tomato Growers and it was the favorite of my cherries this past Spring/Summer season and Totally Tomatoes carries it also and has it on sale so will buy it from them this time round.
Delicious - that one did fairly well also, only I'm ordering it from Totally tomatoes this round as I've heard wonderful things about this company also, was really happy with Tomato Growers.
From Totally Tomatoes I'm going to order: these new ones I've never tried before:
Wins All Tomato, Big Zac
From Tomato Growers I'm going to try: First Prize, Aussie, Believe it or Not and the Sweet Million cherry tomato.

I was really happy with the way my FL highbush and Black Beauty eggplants did, Tomato Growers carries both of them.
I'm going to try crook neck yellow summer squash for the first time also this Spring/Summer, and am trying the Pic N Pic and the Early Golden Crookneck from Burpees. I've decided to also try a different spinach next fall/winter, remember mine bolted on me last time, I am going to try Melody and Tyee from Harris Seed instead of the type I tried last time also, as both are slow to bolt and do well in this area. I will repeat the Baby Bubba and Clemson Spineless okra also. And will have a variety of peppers too. I'm going to buy a soil tester this time round also. Time I invested in one of the meters I think.

My strawberries are going in stackers I bought from Boca Bob and EBs of course. And my potatoes are going in the smart pots again. I pulled my Key Lime, Myer Lemon and Dwarf Banana in the house for the Fall/Winter as it is starting to get a mite chilly here in these parts in the evening.
