This brug was growing perfectly fine, but up cropped this gnarly mass of new leaves, the picture can't do justice of how twisted and awful it looks....Plant is healthy otherwise. What could be causing this? Thanks
Gnarly Brug........help
Karen,
Do you have a really good magnifying glass? Broadmites cause that type of distortion. I can see a leaf that seem to curl under. Use the magnifying glass to look at the underside. Broadmites are very very small mites. Look at the distorted masses also.
It also looks like a boron deficienty especially if you don't find any mites, but before you add anything check the soil's pH. Very acidic or basic soil or potting mix can interfere with the uptake of nutrients even if they are present in sufficient quanatities. Most nutrients are most readily available if the soil's pH is between 6 - 7

thank you Betty. I do believe it was broadmites, although I could not see any with a magnifying glass. I peeled open some of the tighest curled up wadded leaves and they were filled with a hardened crust, sort of peanut butter in color, reminded me of scabs. Since the rest of the plant is fine, and just that top is beyond help I cut the top off. Hope it will recover.
