need recipe for pear butter?

Hi, my first time to this forum!
I have a neighbor that has thousands of pears about to go to waste. I just chatted with another neighbor and she told me she made pear butter once and it can be frozen. Loving apple butter, I asked if it was anything like that. She said yes, but you use pears instead of apples. She was just widowed a few weeks ago which is why I stopped to talk to her, but also the reason I don't want to burden her to search for the recipe. It isn't in any of my cook books. Anyone heard of it or got a recipe??
