tiG,I got my seeds from valleygrow today .Do I soak them? How long? The last seeds I started I never soaked .

FSH, TX

I don't peel my seeds, but I do soak for 12-24 hours.

Tig: Were they sent priority post? No problem with customs? Getting ready to send a few people cuttings and just wondering how the mail and customs are these days.

Brugman,
I'm glad you posted the above...I was just getting ready to soak the seeds and peel them later.....maybe that is why I don't get such a great germination rate...I peel the seeds.

MZM....don't peel

the cuttings came regular post. It says on the outside of the box 'Plant cutting, no root, no soil' and they got here really fast. Mine haven't gotten to him yet, and I mailed them a few days earlier. :(

tiG,here in Canada we have to send regular post for now,I inquired and was told that express post is no quicker because parcels aren't flying in the states. That was only half of the trade, you have some more cuttings coming. The next bunch is coming in a few days,it will be quick because someone is driving through your side of the border and will be mailing them for me!
Your cuttings arrived today!Beautiful, thank you very much.I was sorry to see how much it cost you to ship.Maybe if you just wrapped in moist paper towels covered with plastic and a smaller box you might save some.
Thank you again
Paul

don't worry about the cost, are they okay??? That was more important to me. If I'd known for sure they would make it, i would have used paper towels, but just felt driven to do everything, that's why the water crystals. Next time I'll know:) one being rooted I just didnt' want to take the chance.

The planes are flying again here, but if they can travel regular mail that is even better. when you hit a certain weight, 1.5 pounds or something, it is only a nickle more to go priority.

paul, if you're sending more, don't send them a more expensive way!!!!!! these were so fresh you'd think you just cut them:)

Pierrefonds, QC(Zone 5a)

Our post office insists that going air or express or anything besides regular mail is just a waste of money because of restrictions going through the border.Within Canada I mail express and it goes just about anywhere in 3 days.As long as the cuttings arrive healthy I guess !
