Oh my goodness - please tell me the identity of "a noxious weed"
in your Post #7903358. This just about took over my entire yard
last year. It arrived apparently in an order of phlox and that's where
I planted it. The following Spring it was in every nook and cranny,
even in the front of the house and in my neighbor's yard! Getting
rid of it was a nightmare and I ended up resorting to RoundUp.

What is it??

It is Lysimachia clethroides (Gooseneck loosestrife).I planted it 6 years ago in huge pots buried in the ground, because I was told that would control it.It worked for 3 years. Now I pull it every week and just let 1 clump grow.Beware....unless you have a huge empty spot nothing else will grow in!!

I got rid of all of it although today I did see a few sprouts in,
of all places, the cracks in the driveway paving stones!

June,
It will grow anywhere!! I don't have a picture of the huge bunch I had anymore, but it was a beautiful sight to behold....It was 3 always covered with blooms that look great in the wind especially.But......it spreads rapidly and grows right through my other perennials. It also draws TONS of wasps.I have lots of things that draw bees and a few wasps, but this was ridiculous.I could hardly get near them!!
I am going to replace that last clump with something else this fall, but I will still have to be on constant alert, because the underground runners could choke out smaller, weaker plants.
The only thing I really love that is invasive is Hummingbird vine.If you keep after it for a few years until it makes a big "bush",it doesn't make runners anymore.

Thanks Sally.I can't believe the gardening catalogues are still selling that "weed".
